Savings Plan: 52-week challenge and daily saving
The 52-week challenge turns saving into a game: $1 in week 1, $2 in week 2, up to $52 in week 52. The daily $1 challenge is even simpler. Both exploit incremental commitment to build habit without a large initial sacrifice.
How it works
Start with $1 and add $1 each week. After 52 weeks you have saved the sum of 1 to 52, which is 1378. The daily version is linear: total = daily amount × days. The calculator shows weekly breakdown and total time to reach any goal.
The math
Sum 1..n = n(n+1)/2. For n=52, 52×53/2=1378. Daily total = daily × days. Both are arithmetic progressions, not compound interest.
Arithmetic series. No compounding, just incremental addition.
Examples
Full 52 weeks
- Week 1 $1 … Week 52 $52
